IE Market Research Corp.: IEMR releases its 3Q08 Latin America Mobile Forecasts

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
RDATE:04082008

Vancouver -- IE Market Research Corp. (IEMR), the Canadian-based
provider of market intelligence services, announced today the release
of its 3Q08 Latin America Mobile Forecast.

"The 3Q08 Mobile Forecasts demonstrate IEMR's capability to gather
information from a variety of global resources and model it into
accurate and timely forecasts for our clients," said Nizar Assanie,
Vice President of Research at IEMR. "Clients will find the information
easily accessible, comprehensive, and exceptionally relevant to enable
them to make sound business and investment decisions about mobile
operators and vendors strategies."

IEMR's Latin America Mobile Forecast covers 7 of the largest
telecommunications markets in the region, with 65 financial and
operational metrics on over 30 wireless operators covered by our
offering. This makes IEMR's Mobile Forecasts one of the most
comprehensive offering of wireless market trends in the region.

With a global perspective, the Mobile Forecasts shed light on the
growth potential of powerful emerging markets such as Peru. Notable
highlights of the 3Q08 Latin America Mobile Forecast include:

Trends in Wireless Markets:

* THE FASTEST GROWING WIRELESS MARKET IN LATIN AMERICA (PERU): We
continue to believe that fastest growing wireless market in this region
from 2008 - 2010 by subscribers will be Peru. Our models predict that
the total subscribers in Peru will increase by 29.7% over the forecast
period, 2008 - 2010. We are projecting a subscriber base in Peru of
23.8 million in 2010.

* THE MARKET WHERE CONSUMERS PAY THE MOST FOR WIRELESS SERVICES IN
LATIN AMERICA (CHILE): Given regional growth dynamics and the level of
competition in various markets, we are now forecasting that the market
where consumers pay the most for their mobile services in the region
(as measured by Average Revenue per User, ARPU) in 2010 will be Chile
with ARPU levels of US$ 18.46 per month (previously, we were
forecasting Mexico to have the highest ARPU in the region at US$ 17.96
per user).

* THE MARKET WHERE CONSUMERS PAY THE LEAST FOR WIRELESS SERVICES IN
LATIN AMERICA (PERU): We are continuing to expect Peru to have the
lowest ARPU levels in the region. Operator-wide ARPU levels in Peru are
expected to be US$ 9.59 in 2010.

* THE MARKET WHERE CONSUMERS CAN EXPECT TO SEE THE BIGGEST INCREASE IN
WIRELESS SERVICE CHARGES IN LATIN AMERICA (ARGENTINA): Within our
coverage list, we are expecting Argentina to see the highest level of
ARPU increase. Between 2008 and 2010, consumers in Argentina can be
expected to pay a modest 4.7% more for their wireless services.

Operator Highlights:

* THE FASTEST GROWING OPERATOR IN LATIN AMERICA (TELE NORTE LESTE IN
BRAZIL): Our model is now forecasting that Oi (Tele Norte Leste) in
Brazil will see the highest level of subscriber growth among the 30
wireless operators in our coverage list. Subscriber levels will rise by
36% between 2008 and 2010 and total subscribers will reach 30.7 million
in 2010.

* THE OPERATOR THAT WILL ADD THE MOST SUBSCRIBERS IN LATIN AMERICA
(TELCEL IN MEXICO): We are forecasting that Telcel will see 17.5
million wireless subscribers added to its networks from 2008 to 2010.

* THE OPERATOR WHICH WILL CHARGE ITS CUSTOMERS THE MOST IN LATIN
AMERICA (NEXTEL INTERNATIONAL IN MEXICO): In 2010, the operator which
will bill its customers at the highest level in our coverage list will
be Nextel International in Mexico with an ARPU of US$ 65.44 per month
in 2010.

* THE OPERATOR WHICH WILL CHARGE ITS CUSTOMERS THE LEAST IN LATIN
AMERICA (CLARO PERU): In 2010, the operator which will bill its
customers at the lowest rate in our coverage list will be Claro Peru in
Peru with an ARPU of only US$ 7.68 per month in 2010.

* THE MOST PROFITABLE OPERATOR IN LATIN AMERICA IN 2010 (TELCEL IN
MEXICO): Within our coverage list, we are continuing to forecast that
Telcel in Mexico will be the most profitable operator in the region. On
average, we are expecting EBITDA margins at Telcel to remain at 52% -
53% over the next three years.

IEMR's Global Mobile Forecast covers up to 65 operational metrics of
213 mobile operators in 50+ countries, making up 80% of the world's
population. Forecasts are based on our proprietary, country-specific
forecasting models. These models deploy multiple regression analysis
and cross-impact matrices that estimate relationships between
subscriber data, technology use and deployment data, overall economic
and demographic changes expected in a particular country; and relate
these to company operational and financial metrics.
