Paris -- Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced
that it has been selected by Telefonica O2 Czech Republic, a major
fixed and mobile service provider, to support the launch of a range of
next-generation messaging services for its subscribers.[ ]Thanks to the
new converged messaging platform from Alcatel-Lucent, Telefonica O[2]'s
mobile and fixed customers will now be able to access a range of
innovative services in addition to traditional voice mail services.
Using a Web-based interface, customers can choose how and when they
receive their messages; the service supports Czech, Slovak and English
languages.

As part of a five-year contract - which includes project management,
software integration, deployment and maintenance - Alcatel-Lucent has
migrated voicemail boxes for 2.2 million fixed line and mobile
customers in a record-breaking six weeks.

A key feature of this end-to-end mailbox migration has been the
movement of user greetings, announcements and personal options for all
subscribers from legacy systems to the new, converged infrastructure,
all while ensuring an uninterrupted and seamless transition for
Telefonica O[2']s subscribers.
