Police: Texts tie wife to death: Court documents show Mirinda Boob sent messages to co-defendant on day of husband's August slaying

Sep 15, 2009 (The Centre Daily Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- STATE COLLEGE -- In the days leading up to her husband's death, police say Mirinda Boob left a trail of text messages that show she was planning to have him killed.

Court documents on Monday revealed Verizon Wireless records of text conversations Mirinda Boob, 27, had with two people in which she detailed her desire to have her husband shot and killed with his own gun.

Boob, along with Bellefonte resident Ronald Heichel, is charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy in the Aug. 23 shooting death of 29- year-old Samuel S. Boob.

Rockview state police say their investigation shows Heichel, 29, pulled the trigger, killing Boob in his driveway about 10 a.m. while Mirinda was in their house with his four children, texting Heichel with details about her husband's whereabouts, and information about how to get into their garage and where to hide.

Boob was shot once in the chest, and then in the back after falling to the ground. In the court papers filed Saturday, police say "both of his hands had sustained gunshot injury." The first text conversation revealed by police in court papers took place Aug. 15. Police did not identify the person Mirinda Boob was communicating with when she wrote that she hoped Samuel Boob would be "6 ft under" by Sept. 10, the start of the Nittany Antique Machinery Association's fall show.

Mirinda Boob said she planned to "take him out" with "his gun." Police have said Mirinda Boob was having an affair with, and talking to, Wesley Decker, of Centre Hall, up until the day before her husband's death.

It's not known if he was a party to any of the text conversations.

On the day Samuel Boob was shot, police said Mirinda Boob had a text conversation with Heichel. Part of that conversation follows, exactly as it appears in court papers: Heichel: Let me know when he is in the house.

Mirinda Boob: K. He is. Ya i sawuhesindagarage d Heichel: Well u will have ur pond very soon! Will he lock the door when he comes in? Mirinda Boob: Prolly da garage Heichel: How can i get a key Court papers say Mirinda Boob told police many contradicting stories during the course of her interviews since Samuel Boob's death. One of them was that she met Heichel about six weeks ago and asked him to install a pond at her property.

Police say she also told Heichel her husband would "slap her around," and told police that Heichel decided to confront and "rough up" Samuel Boob.

In the text-message conversation Aug. 23, shortly before police say Samuel Boob was killed, court papers show Heichel asked Mirinda Boob: "And u sure u want the pond done?" She responds: "I would love to have a pond done." Earlier court papers said she told police she turned off her phone after responding to only one message from Heichel the morning of her husband's death.

However, the Verizon Wireless records show the two exchanging text messages almost nonstop between 8:33 a.m. and 9:49 a.m., including speaking on the phone at 9:40 a.m.

"It should be noted that (Mirinda Boob) telephoned Centre County 911 at 10:07 a.m., 08/23/09, following her purported discovery of Samuel Boob outside of the green metal garage," say court documents filed by police.

As part of the investigation, police say they suspect someone moved Boob's truck to a spot on the Boobs' lawn, placing it so that it shielded the view of Samuel Boob's body from the street.

Bloody footprints were also found at the scene, which police think match Mirinda Boob's shoes, court papers say.

Because Verizon keeps records of text messages for only a short period of time, messages exchanged before Aug. 15 weren't recovered.

What police do have shows Heichel and Boob had "frequent" conversations "at least as far back as 08/15/09," police say. And the text-message exchange between Boob and Heichel the morning Samuel Boob died "shows a conspiracy immediately prior to Samuel Boob being fatally shot," police say.

About 45 minutes before the shooting, police say Heichel texted Mirinda Boob about establishing an alibi by going to church. Court papers contain the following transcript of the conversation.

Heichel: I'm thinking b4 and u go to church for witnesses. I need ur key tho.

Mirinda Boob: I will call my dad n talk 2 him Heichel: Ill need the key and please keep ur kids inside Mirinda Boob: Theyre sleepn Heichel: When will he be in? Mirinda Boob: Unlockd Police filed additional charges of murder and solicitation to commit murder against Mirinda Boob on Saturday.

Boob and Heichel are both scheduled to be in court Wednesday for preliminary hearings on the charges against them.
