Camiant Announces PCRF Advancements for a Large Scale LTE Deployment in 2010
(Market Wire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MARLBOROUGH, MA and MAIDENHEAD, UK -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 02/03/10 --
Camiant, Inc., the leading provider of
policy control technology -- in preparation for a large scale Long Term
Evolution (LTE) deployment in 2010 -- today announced that its leading
solution, the Multimedia
Policy Engine (MPE), fully compliant with 3GPP* Release 8 and 9, is now
generally available on the latest RadiSys Advanced Telecommunications
Computing Architecture (ATCA) platform for next generation mobile
providers.
The Camiant MPE ATCA solution delivers sophisticated policy management into
complex telecommunications environments with the performance and
reliability expected from a first-rate, carrier-grade hardware platform.
The Camiant MPE ATCA-ready platform uses the RadiSys Promentum 6000 chassis
and its latest compute blade, the Promentum 4500, which utilizes Intel's
recent Nehalem architecture for CPU and memory enhancements and 10-Gigabit
Ethernet connectivity. With this solution, Camiant has further solidified
its leadership in evolving mobile networks towards LTE and beyond.
With the increasing sophistication of next generation networks, compliance
with 3GPP industry standards has become essential. Camiant has supported
the latest 3GPP releases, Releases 8 and 9, since May 2009. 3GPP Release 8
includes requirements for LTE networks, while Release 9 defines
volume-tracking and layer 7 capabilities, critical next steps in preparing
carrier networks to dynamically control high value, broadband services. The
release 9 standard enables operators to apply policy based usage controls
without the need to integrate a charging system into the solution.
Camiant's MPE is ahead of the curve, having already been deployed as an EU
(European Union) roaming control solution. Camiant was a major author
in the standardization of Releases 8 and 9, in support of Tier 1 operators
in North America and Europe.
Camiant also announced the MPE has completed interoperability testing with
numerous leading vendors using multiple 3GPP interfaces including:
-- Gx for policy enforcement points, including Packet Data Gateways (PGW),
Gateway GPRS Support Nodes (GGSN), Deep Packet Inspection (DPI)
systems, and multi-service proxies (MSP)
-- Rx for SIP and IMS systems such as Proxy Call Session Control Functions
(P-CSCF) and Session Border Controllers (SBC)
-- Sh for subscriber databases, including Home Subscriber Servers (HSS) and
Subscriber Profile Repositories (SPF)
"As LTE approaches wide-scale deployment in mobile networks, Camiant is
ready to apply our extensive knowledge and leading edge technology to the
industry's most progressive mobile operators," said Mark DelSesto, Vice
President of Product Management. "Providers are readying themselves to
realize the full benefits of broadband communications, and we're thoroughly
prepared to help them achieve those benefits as quickly as possible."
