Crescendo Networks Announces Market's 1st Scale-on-Demand ADC, Supporting Up to 100 Gbps with New HyperScale Design Architecture
LAS VEGAS --(Business Wire)--
Crescendo Networks (News - Alert) today announced the industry's first 100 Gbps
Application Delivery Controller (ADC) solution, made possible by an
exclusive Crescendo technology called HyperScale that will be offered as
an option with all Crescendo AppBeat DC CN-7000 series controllers
beginning in June. The new HyperScale architecture - delivering massive
scalability as well as predictable high performance - will enable IT
managers to adopt a pay-as-you-grow ADC (News - Alert) strategy for the first time by
adding more AppBeat DC units as Web traffic increases instead of
continually replacing ADC hardware to meet rising throughput demands.
With the HyperScale option enabled on Crescendo CN-7000 ADCs, multiple
controllers can operate as one logical ADC with one set of
configurations and management capabilities. As a result, datacenters,
cloud networks and e-businesses can implement Crescendo ADCs of any
scale in their Web environment without replacing the existing ADC
solution, purchasing an expensive blade-based chassis solution with
limited capacity, or adding IT infrastructure and associated
administrative overhead.
Redundancy is architected into the core design, eliminating the need to
add a second expensive dormant passive box to each controller.
HyperScale supports N+i redundancy so the HyperScale system can be
configured one box at a time.
System administrators can now support up to 100 gigabytes of ADC
throughput by aggregating controllers with smaller capacities, and slice
the resulting logical ADC into as many virtual clients as desired. Newly
added AppBeat units are configured automatically and added to the
logical ADC with no need for manual setup. Future HyperScale upgrades
will allow for infinite scalability.
Scale on Demand
"In today's IT environment, exponentially increasing Web load is a
reality that cannot be resolved simply by linearly adding more severs
and load balancers. The combination of datacenter consolidation and
virtualization, cloud computing, and sheer growth in online services
presents increasing challenges in delivering predictable performance for
end users. The latest virtual machine trends actually make servers more
vulnerable under load and create complete chaos when it comes to
predicting latency figures," said Adoram Ga'ash, CEO of Crescendo
Networks. "HyperScale future-proofs Web-based businesses by offering a
new architecture design that eliminates the need to discard existing ADC
hardware."
"Advances in multi-core CPU's are enabling rapid scale-up in data center
computational capacity," said Peter Christy, Founder of Internet
Research Group. "When paired with Crescendo's 'all the features at the
same time' design, Crescendo's scaling model presents an attractive
alternative to doing a wholesale upgrade of ADC equipment in order to
keep up, especially in the face of the ever-evolving requirements of
modern Web applications."
Performance Advantage
HyperScale enhances the advantages of the AppBeat DC CN-7000 platform,
including an innovative hardware architecture that eliminates the
performance degradation and resource contention suffered by competing
products when multiple features are turned on.
AppBeat DC performance is driven by a massive parallel processing array
with separate resources for each feature. Massive parallelism makes it
possible to effectively offload repetitive tasks like compression, TCP
connection management and SSL in order to ensure fast, reliable
application delivery. Application service levels can also be met with
fewer hardware resources, allowing existing infrastructure to serve more
users.
Crescendo Networks will be showing HyperScale in Booth #2431 at the
Interop (News - Alert) 2010 conference that opens today in Las Vegas.
About Crescendo Networks
Crescendo Networks accelerates and optimizes delivery of
business-critical Web applications through the market's best-performing
application delivery controllers. A purpose-built hardware design with a
massively parallel architecture enables Crescendo's ADCs to outperform
competing products under peak load with all features turned on, allowing
servers to serve user requests even under massive HTTP traffic or
extreme load. The company's products are used by many of the world's
most sophisticated and fastest-growing Web properties to ensure
usability, facilitate rapid business growth, lower IT costs and capture
additional revenue.
