Airspan Introduces AirCore 4G LTE Evolved Packet Core (EPC) Solution
BARCELONA, SPAIN, Feb 29, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS - Airspan Networks Inc., a leading provider
of 4G broadband wireless access networks, introduced today AirCore,
their LTE EPC solution, to assist carriers in controlling customer
access to the LTE network as well as manage the data flow, mobility
and service quality.
AirCore is a comprehensive Evolved Packet Core (EPC) solution
consisting of all core elements including Mobility Management Entity
(MME), Serving Gateway (SGW), PDN Gateway (PGW), Home Subscriber
Server (HSS), and Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF). All
these elements work together in a single platform to provide carriers
'network-in-a-box' functionality for an easy to manage network.
The AirCore EPC supports lower-latency, higher-throughput and
lower-cost voice and data services. AirCore enables operators to
determine the treatment of service IP packets in line with their
technical and commercial goals. This is essential to be able to
monetize and profit from the expense of mobile broadband networks, as
well as guarantee subscribers the connectivity they require for an
enjoyable user experience.
AirCore accompanies Airspan's LTE radio access network (RAN) base
station solutions (pico, micro and macro) to offer network operators
a comprehensive LTE product portfolio to ensure that the right
combination of products can be deployed to get the right coverage,
capacity and services based on their particular data traffic needs,
topographies and business plans. AirCore can support smaller
footprints and then be easily scaled to support larger networks as
the user base grows.
AirCore Key Highlights
-- Highly scalable architecture and carrier-class platform
-- Flexible Licensing model based on number of Subscribers
-- "Network-in-a-box" functionality
-- Low-footprint LTE mobility platform with support up to 200K
simultaneous subscribers
-- Superior performance-to-price ratio
-- Support for fixed, mobile and nomadic subscribers
-- Broad LTE and LTE- Advanced interface support
-- Interworks with legacy (2G, 3G and non-3GPP) systems and maintains
seamless mobility
-- Easy to manage with CLI/SNMP/GUI/Web interfaces
"Airspan is committed to delivering the highest standard in LTE
technology," commented Uzi Shalev, Airspan Chief Operating Officer.
"The inherent intelligence of our EPC solution will enable operators
to run more efficient, cost-effective networks that deliver the
throughput and services their customers require. We have incorporated
leading internal and third party technology into this solution
including the innovative 'EPC' software framework from Aricent to
support the 'network-in-a-box' functionality for both large and small
LTE networks."
Airspan's comprehensive product portfolio will be on display in the
Airspan booth (Hall 1, #C53) until March 1, 2012 at the Mobile World
Congress show taking place in Barcelona, Spain.
