600th - QuikTrip opens second Claremore store

CLAREMORE, Mar 15, 2012 (Claremore Daily Progress - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- QuikTrip celebrated the opening of its 600th store Thursday afternoon as it open a second location in Claremore.

The Claremore Chamber of Commerce and community leaders gathered to welcome QuikTrip executives and 75 employees from the home office to the Claremore during a ribbon cutting ceremony.

"There are only two ways to do everything in life, the easy way and the right way. At QuikTrip we do things the right way," said CEO Chet Cadieux.

QT had one store in 1958 and the last 54 years have provided the opportunity for growth as the company celebrated the grand opening of the 600th store.

The new store is a generation-three store, which is one of the seven unique stores in the Tulsa Area. Approximately 5,700-sq.-ft. in size, the store features a number of special amenities for customers including a coffee and ice cream bar.


Outside the facility there are 16 gasoline pumps and picnic tables for customers.

The store will have approximately 17 employees and each new store that is added provides an opportunity for advancement, according to Cadieux.

"Thank you on behalf of all the families that depend on QuikTrip," "Thank you and Welcome to Claremore," Mayor Mickey Perry said as he addressed the crowd.

"People have been asking about it and talking about it for a while," Store Manager Rick McKewon said, "Everyone has been waiting for this style of store to come to Claremore." QuikTrip opened its first store in 1958 and reached 100 stores in the early 1970s.

The company experienced continued growth as a result of the hard work and "do things the right way attitude", according to Cadieux.
