United Kingdom : Alcatel-Lucent to unveil OpenTouch communications platform for iPad [TendersInfo (India)]

The new feature - OpenTouch Conversation, will allow users to flawlessly shift from device to device without interrupting a call, or change a call into a video conference without breaking the other call. Though the new feature is still under field testing, it is expected to be available for enterprise customers by June. Alcatel-Lucent is also planning to unveil OpenTouch Conversation for Windows PCs, Macs, iPhone, Android, Windows Phone, and Blackberry smartphones.


According to Alcatel-Lucent, the company is dealing with the speedily growing bring your own device (BYOD) trend for workers to utilize personal devices for work applications, and will allow workers to access corporate-grade instant messaging, data sharing, voice calls and video collaboration services using such devices. OpenTouch Conversation is expected to allow more efficient communication and collaboration even as providing the security and ease of management which IT managers require.

Eric Penisson, VP of enterprise communications at Alcatel-Lucent, said, "The genius behind OpenTouch Conversation is that it leverages the power of smart devices and reconciles all the modes of communication in one place in an intuitive, easy-to-use interface."
