FlexJobs Reports Job Market Looks Bright for New Grads in 2012
Boulder, CO, Apr 04, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) --
As college graduation approaches, entry level positions that offer some type of flexibility, including the option to work from home, rose more than any other job category according to FlexJobs' Flexible Index Report which details open jobs by career field. In fact, jobs geared toward those starting a new career saw a 90% increase.
"The large boost in open jobs at the entry level bodes well for upcoming grads," Sara Sutton Fell, CEO of FlexJobs stated. "As Forbes recently reported that Gen Y wants flexibility, this is good timing for those ready to enter the work force."
Other career fields that saw the largest increases in flexible jobs in March include:
1. Data Entry with a 51% increase.
2. Customer Service with 17% increase.
3. Admin with 16% increase.
4. Medical and Health with a 14% increase.
Medical and Health continues to dominate as the career field with the most available jobs, a position they've held steadily over the last six months. In fact, the job categories with the highest volume of flexible jobs including, telecommuting, part-time, and freelance jobs, are:
1.Medical and Health
2.Administrative
3.Customer Service
4.Education & Training
5.Sales
"With the competitive job market, now is the time for upcoming grads to start applying for positions," said Fell. "And if they are interested in flexibility, there are good signs of growth in jobs offering flexible schedules, telecommuting options, or freelance contracts."
The ongoing Flexible Job Index report demonstrates the growing depth and variety in the employment market for telecommuting, part-time, and other flexible jobs, and provides reliable data on top career fields that offer work flexibility. Data includes positions listed on the site directly by employers as well as jobs found by FlexJobs' trained staff of researchers who scour hundreds of online sources, including industry blogs, employer websites, job boards, job feeds, and more. Only professional jobs that can both be confirmed as legitimate and as having some kind of work flexibility (telecommuting, part-time or flexible schedule, or freelance contracts) are included in FlexJobs' job database.
