iPass and MobileIron partner for mobile connectivity and management
Apr 06, 2012 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) --
iPass Inc., a provider of Wi-Fi and enterprise mobility services, and MobileIron, a provider of enterprise management and security for mobile applications and devices, have announced that they are partnering to help enterprises implement a combined mobile connectivity, application management and device management offering to meet the challenges of enabling and supporting a mobile workforce.
With the iPass Open Mobile platform, iPass delivers a connectivity platform and the commercial Wi-Fi Network with over 700,000 Wi-Fi venues. With MobileIron IT departments can reportedly deploy thousands of smartphones and tablets without sacrificing enterprise-grade security, and they can begin securely distributing mobile applications using MobileIron's Enterprise App Storefront. Together, the companies give IT the ability to secure, manage and monitor app and device deployment and connectivity across the entire enterprise.
"Mobile IT teams need a simple way to on-board mobile devices with the correct, approved apps and enterprise connectivity," said Ojas Rege, VP of Strategy, MobileIron. "The partnership between MobileIron and iPass allows our customers to provide their employees the mobile apps they need on the devices they want with the connectivity they demand anywhere and everywhere."
"By some estimates there are more than one billion mobile employees worldwide. Enterprise IT is struggling not only to manage the huge influx of consumer devices that are coming into the enterprise, but also the connectivity costs hidden in black budgets," said Kevin Murray, vice president of product marketing at iPass. "Ensuring security at the network and device levels is essential for success. By working with MobileIron we will be able to offer our joint-customers the best of all worlds mobile application management, mobile device management and enterprise mobility services."
