Poynt Corp. ("Poynt Corp." or the "Company") announced that since October 2011, timesPoynt, the India-specific mobile local search application offered by Poynt Corp. and TimesCity.com (Times Internet Limited) has seen 900 percent growth in mobile search users over the past six months.
According to a release on April 4, in addition, timesPoynt has seen over 300 percent growth in average daily users since marketing efforts began in late February.
The growing popularity of timesPoynt demonstrates how the mobile search app is successfully addressing the country's increasing demand for mobile information and engagement.
To discuss the growth of market opportunities for location-based search (LBS) in India, Poynt Corp. and the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) will co-host a free webinar, entitled "Smartphone Growth and the Adoption of LBS in India" on April 10 (11pm EDT) / April 11 (11am SGT).
"With more than 900 million mobile subscribers and 87 percent growth in smartphone sales in 2011, India has become one the most important growth markets for location-based services," said Andrew Osis, CEO, Poynt Corp. "More than ever, India's smartphone subscribers need LBS solutions such as timesPoynt that make it easier to create meaningful and relevant connections to the goods, services or genuine experiences they require."
The growth trajectory for mobile usage and the LBS market opportunity that it presents in India will be the primary topics of discussion during the April 10th webinar. Michael Becker, Managing Director, North America for the MMA and Rohit Dadwal, Managing Director, APAC for the MMA will moderate the webinar. Featured speakers include Marco Hunstad, Senior Vice President of Business Development and Global Distribution for Poynt, and Siddhaarth Jalan, Assistant Vice President of TimesCity.com.
"India has been one of the fastest-growing mobile markets in the world for some time, and now we are seeing strong consumer adoption of mobile services as subscribers spend an average of 2.5 hours on their phones each day," said Rohit Dadwal of the MMA. "As one of the market leaders for LBS in India, timesPoynt brings a valuable perspective to our upcoming webinar, and we look forward to joining them to discuss the tremendous market opportunities for mobile search and advertising in India."
