Google case ups ante on internet ads
Apr 09, 2012 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) --
The Federal Court has ruled against Google in a case brought by the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission. It had alleged deceptive advertising, as the web search engine provider had allowed the use of misleading keywords by client so that users were directed to their web sites rather than those of competitors. The decision by the court means Google and similar businesses are now held liable for the results of the searches conducted by internet users and will need to amend their advertising revenue models. An appeal is highly likely in the case.
