Austar nod heartening for business
Apr 10, 2012 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) --
The proposed merger of pay TV service providers Austar United Communications and Foxtel has received regulatory approval after a drawn-out process. The eventual decision of the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission should be welcomed by the business community as a signal that the watchdog is prepared to enter into fruitful negotiations on such deals. The lawyers involved in the talks, from Allens Arthur Robinson, Gilbert + Tobin and Freehills, had to navigate difficult terrain due to the rapid pace of change in the media and telco sectors.
