Juice shop robbed Tuesday

Apr 13, 2012 (Los Banos Enterprise - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Smoothie shop employees were robbed at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Cmdr. Ray Reyna Jr. said the Los Banos Police Department responded to the 1900 block of E. Pacheco Boulevard at 5:13 p.m. after receiving a report of an armed robbery.

Employees at the shop, which has been identified as Jamba Juice, witnessed a man walk into the business, point a gun at them and demand money.

"The victims were cooperative. They were scared but no one was hurt," Reyna said.

He said the suspect left the business on foot traveling in an unknown direction.

Police searched the area for the suspect but was unable to find anyone fitting the description.

Witnesses described the suspect as an adult male in his 40s or 50s with gray hair and a mustache. The suspect was wearing a dark hooded sweat shirt and jeans.

Reyna said the suspect did not wear a mask or anything else to disguise his face during the robbery.

The robbery was the third major criminal incident Los Banos police were called to investigate Tuesday. In unrelated incidents on the same day local law enforcement responded to a jewelry store burglary and a drive-by shooting.

If anyone has information about the armed robbery incident the Los Banos Police Department is asking that they call Detective Justin Melden at (209) 827-7070 ext. 114.
