BRIEF: Pope's Kids Place Puts Donation to Use

Apr 14, 2012 (The Chronicle - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Pope's Kids Place, the Centralia medical clinic for children with special needs, received a $16,118 donation from Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Service of Western Washington in December for repairs to the clinic.

Now, Executive Director Frank Millwood said Pope's Kids Place is making plans to put the donation toward improving the clinic's respite area.

The money will go toward widening five doorways, new tiling the shower room, new flooring in the bedrooms, installing a new dishwasher and partial roof replacement.

"I reserved the money, went out and secured estimates for the repairs," Millwood said. "We honor what they designate the money for." The Catholic Housing Service also donated $21,500 in March 2011, which went to overall repairs for Pope's Kids Place, which included roofing, painting and flooring.
