State Housing Authority Names New Director of Legislative Affairs and Communications
Apr 16, 2012 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) --
Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) Executive Director Gary Heidel announced today that Jennifer Bowman will take on the supervision of MSHDA's Legislative Affairs and Communications group within the Executive division beginning Monday, April 16.
"We are delighted to welcome Jennifer aboard and feel strongly that her past legislative experience will provide valuable insight for MSHDA as we move forward with our mission to provide affordable housing to the people of Michigan while creating vibrancy in our communities throughout the state, said Heidel. "We are fortunate to have her special collaborative skills on our team."
Bowman earned her extensive legislative experience in both chambers but most recently as Chief of Staff for State Senator Tony Stamas, with whom she served 12 years, leaving in 2010 when term limits ended the senator's term of office.
Bowman most recently served as a key member of the Great Start Collaborative in Kent County where she aligned programming and implemented efforts for a newly awarded grant to provide integrated and seamless services to children from birth to five years old and their families.
"I couldn't be more excited to join an organization that represents the same principles and beliefs that are so important to me," Bowman said. "I'm up for the challenge and look forward to working with a team that is playing such an important role in Michigan's reinvention."
About MSHDA
The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) provides financial and technical assistance through public and private partnerships to create and preserve decent, affordable housing for low- and moderate-income residents and to engage in community economic development activities to revitalize urban and rural communities.*
*MSHDA's loans and operating expenses are financed through the sale of tax-exempt and taxable bonds as well as notes to private investors, not from state tax revenues. Proceeds are loaned at below-market interest rates to developers of rental housing, and help fund mortgages and home improvement loans. MSHDA also administers several federal housing programs.
