Broadcast launches CodecSys Media Server

Apr 19, 2012 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Broadcast International has announced the launch of its software based CodecSys Media Server that streams media content from one unified source to multiple clients and devices for a complete TV Anywhere solution.


Over the Top Television (OTT) opportunities to the miriad of new video-capable devices, including PCs, cell phones, tablets, set top boxes and smart TVs. Broadcast International is also highlighting its CodecSys Encoder/Transcoder and the latest version of its Managed Media Services for digital signage networks, the company said.

CodecSys Media Server provides multiplexing and streaming of live and on-demand HD-quality video content over the Internet using adaptive bitrate streaming. Picture quality is adjusted to bandwidth availability in realtime to ensure fluid service delivery and images that are always of the highest quality relative to the available bandwidth.

CodecSys Encoder/Transcoder is a patented multi-codec software framework that operates on standard IT hardware to encode and transcode live, file-based and cloud video streams and assets. The flexible, scalable system uses a library of software codecs and real-time processing to increase signal quality while reducing bandwidth requirements. CodecSys publishes video streams to multiple devices, with multiple profiles and formats, all from a single ingested video stream.

Broadcast International's Managed Media Service incorporates a new and anonymous facial detection tool and sophisticated analytics that allows marketing and corporate communication campaigns to be customized, targeted and delivered more efficiently. MMS also includes a report-generating module that confirms content delivery, audience demographics and interest level, the company added.
