Numera Introduces New Personal Health Home Hub; Lower Cost, Greater Connectivity Options for Large Scale TeleHealth Programs
SEATTLE --(Business Wire)--
Numera announced today the launch of HealthPort, its next-generation
remote health communications hub. HealthPort will provide telehealth
connectivity for virtually any patient, transmitting personal health
information through cellular networks, home broadband, digital or analog
phone lines. The new product complements the company's broad range of
offerings providing robust PC, mobile and appliance connectivity
solutions for telehealth and telecare, including its recently announced
acquisition of BlueLibris.
HealthPort is ideally suited for Independent Living, Chronic Condition
Management, and Transitions in Care Services.
Designed for ease of use, HealthPort provides a simple, effective way
for individuals to share health information on a real-time basis with
their care team without the need and complexity of a smartphone or
computer. The new hub includes:
-
Multiple connectivity options - analog and digital (VoIP) phone lines,
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular and broadband
-
Capability to simultaneously connect up to four wired devices, and a
virtually unlimited number of wireless devices
-
Ability for multiple family members to upload through a single hub
-
A highly graphical, user-friendly interfae with a vibrant 3.5" color
display
"The core focus of our solutions is to drive engagement, personal
accountability and support for individuals, their families and their
care team in proactively managing their health," said Tim Smokoff, CEO
of Numera. "Providing our partners with cost-effective ways to gather
real-time health information without imposing the purchase of more
technology than the participants in the program need is key to enabling
broad adoption and improving results. If the participants don't have
smartphones or access to a computer, HealthPort is a cost effective
alternative."
"We designed the form factor to intentionally look much less like a
medical instrument and more like a consumer electronic appliance to
promote engagement," said Bill Reid, Numera's VP, Product Management.
"Another design goal was to accommodate multiple devices at the same
time. People managing diabetes, for example, may need to monitor their
glucose levels, weight and blood pressure. HealthPort makes sharing all
those measurements easy and convenient. Combined with our Numera Social
platform and our partners' Care Management solutions, we have designed
what we believe to be a complete end-to-end solution. We want to be able
to support virtually any program and consumer technology level, and
reinforce multiple paths of interactive user engagement, participant
support and feedback."
The HealthPort is planned to be available for trials in June, with
wide-market release in the third quarter of this year. Numera will be
demonstrating the product at their booth (#828) during the ATA
exposition in San Jose, CA (News - Alert), April 29 - May 1, 2012.
