Toshiba's IPedge IP Business Telephone System Receives 2012 INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Award
IRVINE, CA, Oct 09, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems
Division (Toshiba -- www.telecom.toshiba.com), today announced that
its IPedge(R) IP business telephone system has won TMC's 2012
INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Award presented by INTERNET TELEPHONY
magazine. This award was given, in part, for the successes achieved
by Toshiba's IPedge EP at LifeLong Medical Care. The 2012 INTERNET
TELEPHONY Excellence Award winners are published in the September
2012 issue of INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine, www.itmag.com.
"We are honored to have Toshiba's IPedge EP win TMC's 2012 INTERNET
TELEPHONY Excellence Award," said Brian Metherell, vice president and
general manager of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc.,
Telecommunication Systems Division. "Designed for small companies and
branches of larger companies, IPedge EP empowers users to communicate
more effectively, be more cost effective, and have greater access to
their customers, partners and each other."
"The editors of INTERNET TELEPHONY are pleased to award Toshiba's
IPedge EP with a 2012 INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Award for its
innovation in IP communications. With its IPedge EP, Toshiba has
demonstrated outstanding quality and delivered exceptional solutions
for its customers," said Erik Linask, group editorial director of
INTERNET TELEPHONY.
IPedge EP Delivers Big Company IP Functionality for Small Companies
Toshiba's IPedge EP, the smallest member of the IPedge family, is an
IP business telephone system designed specifically for small
businesses with up to 40 users per server. It gives small businesses
big company IP features and functionality at an affordable price.
IPedge EP delivers all the features, functionality, quality and
reliability for which Toshiba's telephone systems are known. It is
networkable with other IPedge systems and/or Toshiba's Strata(R)
CIX(TM) IP converged business telephone systems.
IPedge EP goes beyond most competitors' small-business IP solutions
by delivering more applications on a single server, including
expanded call processing and voice mail with unified messaging
features, unified communications, meet-me audio/video conferencing
and Web collaboration, centralized administration, and the ability
for individual users to easily program their own telephones.
IPedge EP is available from Authorized Toshiba Dealers nationwide.
IPedge EP Success Story: LifeLong Medical Care
Founded in 1976, LifeLong Medical Care is a dynamic nonprofit
community organization with nine locations, delivering quality health
services for all ages. LifeLong provides approximately 233,720 health
care visits to more than 41,000 individuals, many with complex health
conditions.
Mission: Create an Affordable and Reliable Networked Telephone System
Managed by Betsy Ami, LifeLong's director of IT, LifeLong's Toshiba
business telephone system helps meet LifeLong's communication
objectives, including centralizing telephony applications and
networking locations together over IP.
LifeLong's Authorized Toshiba Dealer, ATS Communications Inc. of
Concord, Calif., installed and provides service and support for the
system.
Solution: Toshiba Provides the Best of Both Worlds - IP and Digital
Converged Communications
Installed by ATS Communications, LifeLong's Toshiba business
telephone system consists of both pure IP and IP converged systems
for the best of both worlds, including both IP and IP converged
systems supporting both digital and IP telephones. LifeLong's IPedge
EP is networked with eight of Toshiba's Strata CIX IP converged
business telephone systems, delivering telephony solutions for nearly
900 ports across all locations. The solution also includes an
extensive call center, unified messaging, auto attendant, and
Toshiba's Network eManager(R) for centralized remote management of
all systems in all locations.
Result #1: Centralized System Reduces Costs, Improves Productivity
Toshiba met LifeLong's requirement for a centralized system with
shared applications across all locations, including voice mail, call
center and remote system management. Using Toshiba's Network eManager
remote administration tool, LifeLong's IT staff can now remotely
manage the entire telephone system from their desktop or laptop
computers.
Result #2: Seamlessly Networked Systems Deliver Low-Cost
Communication
LifeLong's locations are seamlessly networked via IP using Toshiba's
Strata Net IP networking solution. Networking the systems enables
direct extension dialing and call transfers between the locations,
helping reduce toll charges by thousands of dollars every month. And,
it's helped improve communication between both the internal staff and
their patients.
Result #3: Easy Mobility Solutions for Mobile and Remote Workers
Using Toshiba's SoftIPT(R) softphones, LifeLong's mobile and remote
workers have their Toshiba telephones with them on their mobile
devices, no matter where they go. They can make, receive and transfer
calls, pick up voice mail and do conference calling -- just as if
they were using a desk phone -- from anywhere they have Internet
access.
Bottom Line: Toshiba Delivers a Centralized Business Telephone System
That Saves Costs and Improves Communication
Toshiba's IPedge and Strata CIX telephone systems have met LifeLong's
communications objectives, including:
-- Cost savings of more than $30,000 annually by networking all locations
over IP, thus eliminating toll charges between networked locations;
-- Improved communication with centralized voice mail, call center and
centralized system administration across all locations;
-- Use of IP telephones, which allows LifeLong's staff members to take
their telephones with them as they move between locations;
-- Improved routing of patient calls to the right call center group and
agent;
-- Ability to grow the system by adding IP or converged solutions and IP,
digital or mobile endpoints;
-- Centralized, remote administration of the entire system, which reduces
time to make changes while decreasing the need for costly service
calls; and
-- Standardization on a single vendor platform for all locations.
