Sandvine wins tier 1 converged operator in North America
(Canada Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
Solutions to enable business intelligence, new service tiers, congestion
management over fixed and mobile networks
WATERLOO, ON, Nov. 6, 2012 /CNW/ - Sandvine, (TSX:SVC; AIM:SAND) a leading provider of intelligent broadband
network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, today announced that
it has received Network Policy Control orders worth several million
dollars for a new tier-1, converged service provider customer in North
America. The orders represent a large initial rollout, with forecasted
plans for expansion. Sandvine will be fulfilling the sale through a
major network equipment vendor, with which it recently signed a
reseller agreement.
Fixed line operators were the first to adopt Network Policy Control
solutions, but today over a third of Sandvine's market-leading customer
base offers wireless access to the Internet. The Company's hardware
platforms and software modules can be leveraged by converged,
fixed-mobile operators who want to apply consistent policies to users'
traffic, regardless of how they access the network.
"For service providers that want to leverage investments in Network
Policy Control across multiple use cases, Sandvine is the natural
choice," said Tom Donnelly, COO, Sales and Global Services. "Sandvine's
Policy Traffic Switch is optimized for deployments at the network
access edge to enhance subscribers' quality of experience, enable
innovative service offerings and leverage network and business
intelligence for a wide range of Network Policy Control use cases. This
design and the breadth of use cases separate Sandvine from others in
our market that focus largely on traffic management."
After an extensive competitive process, the tier 1 converged operator
selected Sandvine to replace an incumbent solution and enable:
Actionable business intelligence on fixed line and mobile network
traffic, including the industry's only solution to provide accurate
video quality ratings
Service creation and implementation of innovative new billing plans
across fixed and mobile access infrastructure
Congestion management of fixed and mobile network traffic to ensure an
optimal user experience
Identification and application of policy on IPv6 traffic
The operator purchased the Company's high throughput, high density PTS
24000 and Service Delivery Engine to support all of these use cases.
