MegaPath Ethernet over Copper Named Best Wholesale Ethernet Service for 2012

PLEASANTON, Calif., Nov. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- MegaPath Corporation, one of the leading providers of managed data, voice, security and hosted IT services in North America, today announced that its wholesale Ethernet over Copper (EoC) access solution was awarded Best Wholesale Ethernet Service for 2012 by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), the defining body for Carrier Ethernet. A panel of judges reviewed a number of submissions and recognized MegaPath's service for both its technical merits as well as its impact on the overall Ethernet market over the last 12 months.

Building on years of development, MegaPath Wholesale provides MEF-compliant E-Access services using Ethernet over Copper (EoC) network access technology to service provider partners and carriers throughout the U.S. who in turn serve business customers. It now has the largest E-Access EoC deployment in the U.S., providing service from more than 690 Central Offices nationwide and reaching three million businesses. MegaPath partners have taken advantage of this cost-effective service as a viable alternative to T1 and Bonded T1 access to grow their own businesses.

"MEF received multiple submissions about how Carrier Ethernet services are changing the industry landscape by delivering substantial business value in a unique manner. It is great to see MegaPath recognized for the nationwide rollout of their Ethernet over Copper solution," said Nan Chen, MEF President.

MegaPath's EoC offering, which complies with key technical standards, also recognizes the additional requirements of a complete service necessary to drive the broader adoption of Ethernet. Beyond broad availability and compliance with standards for Carrier Ethernet, MegaPath provides a unique solution that meets customer expectations for timely and accurate delivery, backed by strong service level agreements and virtually seamless management of the customer experience through their Connect partner portal or xLink API.

"We are extremely proud of the investment we've made in the Carrier Ethernet space. It represents a combined effort across multiple groups within the company including Products, Network Engineering, Operations and Software Development to provide a truly scalable service to our wholesale partners," said David Williams, Senior Vice President, MegaPath Wholesale. "More than ever before, our partners can take advantage of the technical benefits of Ethernet as a business-friendly solution to customer needs." MegaPath plans to continue investing in its Ethernet network and will announce new applications and services in 2013. For more information on MegaPath's wholesale Ethernet services, visit
