Opengear Strengthens European Leadership Team and Channel Footprint to Meet Growing Demand for Distributed Network Management Solutions

SANDY, UT, Nov 28, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Opengear (www.opengear.com), a leading provider of critical infrastructure management solutions, has appointed Derek Watkins as its new Director of Sales for EMEA, following record growth as organizations embrace smarter solutions to reduce overhead through remote management.

Watkins brings a proven track record of more than 25 years of sales management experience. Prior to Opengear, he was a sales director at Server Technology, where he developed and led sales of power distribution and monitoring solutions for the critical facilities market across EMEA. Watkins has held other senior roles within several specialist data center organizations, including AFCO Systems, where he forged his extensive experience in the sector.

"Opengear is an innovative company that delivers unique products to customers keen to streamline and improve management tasks, and I look forward to helping to develop both direct engagements and a stronger channel focus," said Derek Watkins, director of sales, Opengear EMEA.

Watkins will lead a team that has beaten expectations in 2012, by posting 78% year over year growth, as well as increasing its channel footprint across Europe. To further capitalize on demand, Opengear has appointed TD Tech, a division of Trend Distribution AS (TD Nordic) to offer Opengear solutions across the Nordic region. This deal strengthens Opengear's pan-European channel position, and builds on existing agreements with distributors Hardware.com and the SPHINX group.

"To succeed in the today's economic climate, organizations must look at innovative methods of meeting remote support and management requirements, while reducing costs," said Robert Waldie, business development manager, Opengear EMEA. "This has prompted customers from the distributed enterprise to the data center, to adopt smart remote management technologies that streamline and automate many of the time consuming, expensive management and problem remediation processes -- reducing both OPEX and infrastructure downtime. These drivers combined with a broad portfolio of innovative products are reasons for Opengear's strong growth, and having a proven sales executive such as Derek on board will allow us to continue our record growth through 2013." Opengear's range of remote management appliances are deployed worldwide to securely manage a wide range of critical network, IT, telecommunications and power infrastructures from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, HP, Check Point and APC. Opengear's smart solutions monitor the physical environment, as well as managed infrastructure with the ability to automatically detect and resolve issues, leverage the latest cellular technologies for out-of-band management, and to provide secure remote control even when the network is down.

About Opengear Founded in 2004, Opengear designs, manufacturers and delivers the most feature rich, cost-effective, flexible solutions for secure remote infrastructure management. Opengear enables companies to access and manage virtually any electronic device on their network remotely and securely from anywhere, even if the network is down, to improve efficiencies and maximize business continuity.
