Fourth-Annual IEEE Power & Energy Society Innovative Smart Grid Technologies (ISGT) Conference to Take Place Feb. 24-27 in Washington
PISCATAWAY, N.J. --(Business Wire)--
IEEE (News - Alert), the world's largest professional organization advancing technology
for humanity, today announced its fourth-annual Innovative Smart Grid
Technologies (ISGT) 2013 conference, to be held Feb. 24-27, 2013, at the
Washington (D.C.) Marriott Wardman Park. Hosted by the IEEE Power &
Energy Society (PES), the conference attracts smart-grid practitioners
from around the world, including industry professionals, executives,
researchers, policymakers and knowledge experts to discuss
groundbreaking innovations in the smart grid's technologies and many
advancing applications.
Keynote addresses include Patricia Hoffman (News - Alert), assistant secretary for the
Office of Electricity and Energy Reliability, U.S. Department of Energy;
Mark Wyatt, vice president of smart grid and energy systems, Duke
Energy; and Juan N. de Bedout, chief technology officer, GE Energy
Management. Early-bird
registration for ISGT 2013 ends Jan. 15, 2013.
"Now in its fourth year, the ISGT conference has assembled some of the
industry's top minds and professionals to further advance smart-grid
innovation," said Saifur Rahman, ISGT 2013 conference chair.
According to a recently released survey commissioned by IEEE and
conducted by Zpryme Research & Consulting, Europe and North America are
the leaders in adopting and utilizing distributed generation,
microgrids, and storage technology. The survey report, "Power Systems of
the Future: The Case for Energy Storage, Distributed Generation, and
Microgrids," states that these regions stand to "takethe lead when it
comes to developing and deploying next-generation distributed energy
systems."
Rahman continued: "The development and deployment of smart-grid
technologies continues to be at the forefront of many conversations in
the world of energy. Many of these pivotal discussions take place at
ISGT, helping lead the industry to next-generation distributed energy
systems solutions and adoption."
Conference attendees will hear and see paper and panel presentations and
can participate in discussions on the following topics:
-
impact of smart grid on distributed energy resources (electric cars,
demand response, distributed generation and storage);
-
smart sensors and advanced metering infrastructure;
-
cyber-security systems (intelligent monitoring and outage management);
-
wide-area protection, communication and control in energy systems;
-
power and energy system applications (generation, transmission,
distribution, markets, operations and planning), and
-
energy management systems (with applications to building and home
automation) and smart-grid standards.
ISGT conference co-sponsoring societies include IEEE-USA, IEEE
Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society, IEEE Industry
Applications Society, IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, IEEE Power
Electronics Society, IEEE Systems Council and IEEE Signal Processing
Society.
