E-mail, Internet again disabled on KDDI's "au" smartphones
(Japan Economic Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TOKYO, Jan. 3 -- (Kyodo) _ E-mail and Internet services were disabled nationwide for nearly two hours early Wednesday morning on some "au" smartphones and tablet devices of KDDI Corp., following a similar trouble reported on Dec. 31 on the nation's second largest mobile carrier's network.
No voice communications were disrupted during the data service trouble affecting around 1.75 million people using iPhone 5 and other devices compatible with the LTE high-speed network between 12:05 a.m. and 1.53 a.m., the operator said.
KDDI said it is suspecting some malfunction in its data communications system but has not pinned down the exact cause.
