Oxygen Forensic Suite 2013 Roots Android 4.x Smartphones including Samsung Models, Adds More Devices and Data Sources

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Moscow, Russia (PRWEB) January 03, 2013 The new release of Oxygen’s flagship mobile forensic tool extends the amount of information that can be acquired from mobile devices, offering support for a great number of new devices, Android 4.x OS, and popular mobile apps.

Rooting Samsung Galaxy Android Smartphones Samsung smartphones gained tremendous popularity, occupying the top of the niche of Android devices. There are more Android-based Samsung phones sold than all Apple iPhones combined. The ability to root Samsung smartphones opens an all-new perspective to forensic examiners, allowing to extract more data from a much greater range of devices.

Oxygen Forensic Suite 2013 v.5.0 becomes an industry-first forensic tool to ever root Android-based Samsung devices. The new ability allows examiners rooting many popular phones such as Galaxy SII, Galaxy SIII, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note 2, etc. At this time, Oxygen Forensic Suite remains the only solution that can root Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

Rooting Android 4.x Devices Oxygen Forensic Suite 2013 v.5.0 implements an all-new method for rooting Android devices, making it possible to root phones and tablets running the latest versions of Android 4.x OS such as ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich). The ability to root Android devices is required in order to obtain many types of evidence, access system areas and log files.

The majority of newly marketed Android phones carries Android 4.x. Many devices running previous versions of Android are being updated to Android 4.x. With the number of Android 4.x installations steadily growing, the newly added ability to root these devices greatly extends the range of tablets and smartphones available for comprehensive forensic acquisition, and is a welcome addition to the already impressive feature list.

In addition, Oxygen Forensic Suite 2013 v.5.0 now supports iOS 6.0.1, enabling evidence extraction from Apple devices shipped with or updated to the new OS.

16 Additional Mobile Apps Supported Oxygen Forensic Suite 2013 v.5.0 adds support for 16 additional Android and iOS applications, enabling the extraction, parsing and analysis of information from extra sources. Newly supported apps include Android OS built-in Email client, MobiStealth Lite for iOS devices, ICQ Messenger for iOS and Android OS devices, Kakao Talk Messenger for iOS and Android OS devices, Zello for iOS and Android OS devices, Bump for iOS and Android OS devices, Passbook for iOS devices, Apple Maps. The total number of supported applications now exceeds 130.

Data Extraction Wizard TAR Support The new release adds TAR support to Oxygen Data Extraction Wizard, enabling evidence extraction from file system images made with forensic tools such as Cellebrite UFED. The entire analytic functionality including Timeline, Communication Statistics and other sections becomes available for data contained in the TAR images.

About Oxygen Forensic Suite 2013 Oxygen Forensic Suite 2013 helps investigators and forensic specialists access and analyze data from a variety of mobile devices such as cell phones, smartphones, communicators, PDA and tablet PCs. Currently supporting more than 6,300 different models, Oxygen Forensic Suite 2013 covers the widest range of mobile devices compared to competition, and allows fully automated acquisition and analysis of supported devices.

The unique Timeline feature offers convenient, single-place access to all activities and movements performed by the user arranged by date and time. Investigators can track user location at every moment, build and map their historic routes, and clearly see all activities performed by the user at each location. Timeline is now available for analyzing DMG images.

Another signature feature of Oxygen Forensic Suite allows investigators performing a global search on all devices ever analyzed with the toolkit. The global search quickly reveals any connections (e.g. common contacts, exchanged calls, texts or emails) between the phone owners.

Oxygen’s statistical analysis tools allow investigators discover social connections between the users of multiple mobile devices. Calls, text messages and Skype conversations are analyzed to produce charts and tables revealing the users’ closest circle at a glance.

Oxygen Forensic Suite 2013 guarantees zero-footprint operation, leaving no traces and making no modifications to the content of the devices, making it the tool of choice among government and law enforcement agencies, security services and forensic organizations in more than fifty countries.
