Police continue probe for missing woman
Jan 04, 2013 (The Daily Star - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Three weeks after Chenango County housewife Jennifer L. Ramsaran vanished under what authorities say are suspicious circumstances, investigators and her husband say they still searching for answers to explain the disappearance.
Ramsaran, a mother of three from New Berlin, was reported missing at about 8 p.m. on Dec. 11 by her husband, Ganesh Ramsaran, a project manager for IBM.
Sources acquainted with the women say she had become enthralled with online games she played on her iPhone, and apparently was playing with individuals who were strangers. But whether that could have played a role in her disappearance has not been established, officials said.
Ganesh Ramsaran, an avid marathon participant, told The Daily Star Thursday that he located his wife's iPhone one day after she disappeared by utilizing the "Find iPhone" application that had been programmed on the device. He said when he located the phone off Route 23 in Plymouth, he dialed 911, took photographs of it and waited for investigators to arrive.
The van Jennifer Ramsaran had been using before she disappeared -- the husband told authorities she had reported she was headed to a Syracuse mall to shop -- was located by the woman's father, Thomas Renz, outside a Norwich apartment building on December 16. The father and other family members had been searching for the vehicle for several days when it was located.
Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting Jr. said there have been no significant developments in the probe in recent days. He noted authorities have examined the cell phone and computer that Jennifer Ramsaran had been using, and are awaiting laboratory results.
"We're continuing the investigation," Cutting said. "It's going to take time."
Ganesh Ramsaran has started a Facebook page -- "Jennifer L. Ramsaran -- Missing Person" -- on which he urges readers to contact the Sheriff's Department if they have any information about his wife.
On the page, he wrote, "Our whole family is so appreciative of all the love and support from everyone!! So many of you have been our friends for so many years and from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU for all of the thoughts and prayers!!!!"
