TDIA Exhibits Rich Applications of the TD-LTE at 2013 International CES

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The world's largest consumer electronics tradeshow, the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show ("CES"), opens in Las Vegas on January 8, 2013. TD Industry Alliance (TDIA) is once again participating with a full range of TD-LTE Mobile Broad Band Services solutions and terminals created by its team.

Today it seems that all consumer electronics are geared towards flexible methods to access the internet and link with each other, though broadband wireless telecommunications solutions have never been a natural part of CES. TD-LTE will show its flexibility and availability on high speed wireless communication solutions to all consumer electronics vendors and visitors.

Time-Division Long-Term Evolution (TD-LTE) is one of two variants of 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology, the other being Frequency-Division Long-Term Evolution (FD-LTE or LTE FDD). TD-LTE offers asymmetric use of unpaired spectrum. The technology supports scalable channel bandwidth, between 1.4 and 20MHz. This unique characteristic makes TD-LTE an accessible enterprise network for companies who are looking for reliable high-speed wireless networks in the field of public safety, traffic and transportation, utilities and natural resource.

Facilitated by carrier aggregation technology, the DL-SCH throughput of TD-LTE systems reach 224 Mbps in field testing with two component carriers. Meanwhile, TD-LTE supports high-mobility; it enables mobile broadband service in vehicles and high-speed trains. In December 2012, China Mobile deployed TD-LTE coverage for a high speed railway in the Jiaxing Section between Shanghai and Hangzhou. With an average speed of 300km/h, a data throughput of 15Mbps was achieved on the train.

At CES, TDIA will show rich applications for TD-LTE, such as for Intelligent Home systems, SOHO, Wideband Trunking Service, MBB services in Vehicles, and more. A wide range of TD-LTE terminals, including mobile phones, data cards, CPE, MiFi, booklets and M2M modules, will be supported, providing visitors more ideas about what TD-LTE can do.

TD-LTE technology is developing rapidly, globally. By September 2012, there were 12 TD-LTE commercial networks deployed globally, 24 operators have signed 31 TD-LTE commercial contracts, and more than 50 TD-LTE trial networks have been set up around the world. Meanwhile, broadband trunking network solutions are experiencing rapid development, which has been widely deployed in various industries including airports, harbors, utility smart grids, municipal governments, subways, railways and more. All of these promise a vibrant future for the whole industry.

Founded in 2002, TDIA is a social organization formed voluntarily by enterprises who actively commit themselves to the development of TDD mobile communication technology and engage in the R&D, production and service of TDD standards and products. As of November 2012, TDIA has 90 members, including mobile operators, equipment manufacturers, software vendors and distributors. The research fields of TDIA members cover the industrial chain from end to end, including RAN, CN, RF devices, antenna, UEs, chipsets, testing instruments, software, service and applications.
