BRIEF: One dead, one injured in Martin County accident

Jan 09, 2013 (Odessa American - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- One person died and another was transported to the hospital after a two-vehicle collision in Martin County.

Lance Schneider, 50, of San Antonio, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday by Martin County Justice of the Peace Jarrell Hedrick, a Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman said. His passenger, Dannie Schlag, 22, of Atascosa, was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital. Schlag's condition was unknown Wednesday morning.


Schneider was driving westbound in a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado on Tom Craddick Highway, about half a mile from State Highway 349, when he collided with the left side of a westbound 2013 MAC trailer around 1 p.m., the spokeswoman said. The driver of the MAC trailer, Ezequiel Sevilla, of Del Rio, was reportedly not injured.

Schneider and Schlag were both reported as wearing their seatbelts.
