Accedian Networks Secures Two MEF Designations - Carrier Ethernet 2.0 Certification and Carrier Ethernet Training Accreditation
MONTREAL & SAN DIEGO --(Business Wire)--
Accedian Networks (News - Alert), the leader in Performance Assured Networking™ for
Mobile Backhaul, Business Ethernet and Cloud Services, today announced
that it has achieved Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF (News - Alert)) CE 2.0 certification and
is now an MEF Carrier Ethernet Accredited Training Provider (ATP).
Next generation Carrier Ethernet (CE) 2.0 extends the original purpose
of Carrier Ethernet with vital added features. These features include
multiple class of service, greater manageability and easier
interconnects for eight (8) standard service types. This enables new
levels of efficiency for mobile backhaul, thereby making it easier for a
large number of access providers to join the Carrier Ethernet community.
According to IDC, in 2012 over 1.2 billion new Ethernet posts were
shipped (400 million wired and 800 million wireless). By 2015, Frost and
Sullivan, Vertical Systems Group and Infonetics (News - Alert) predict that Ethernet
services market will reach $48 billion.
When selecting equipment vendors, carriers are looking to have more
certainty about the telecom equipment that they deploy in their network.
MEF CE 2.0 certification provides them with the clarity and peace of
mind that the solutions they select have met the stringent standards for
the MEF.
"The MEF views the Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE
2.0) certification program as opening a very important chapter in the
evolution of standardized Carrier Ethernet services," said Eric Puetz,
MEF Certification Committee Co-Chair and Director, Broadband, Access and
Transport Standards at AT&T. "CE 2.0 certification provides an essential
proof point for CE 2.0 services - oening up new markets for regional
providers, delivery of cloud services, the first application-oriented
SLAs and optimization of mobile backhaul."
Building on this certification, Accedian has also been designated a MEF
Accredited Training Provider (ATP (News - Alert)), further showcasing its dominance in
the Carrier Ethernet space. Accedian is one of seven global
organizations - Carrier Ethernet Academy, Eantc, Fujitsu, Perpetual
Solutions, Tech 2000, and Telefocal - that are permitted to provide
instruction with regards to MEF CE training.
"Being MEF CE2.0 certified is another technical feather in our cap and
further demonstrates to our customers that our Performance Assured
Networking™ solutions are world-class. Our solutions went through a
suite of over 634 demanding tests and they passed each one with flying
colors," said Patrick Ostiguy (News - Alert), President & CEO of Accedian Networks.
"100% of our sales engineers (SE) are certified Carrier Ethernet
Certified Professionals (CECP), thus achieving the MEFs ATP
certification is a testament to our in-depth knowledge and understanding
of Carrier Ethernet and our leadership in the industry."
In order to keep up with the demand by industry professionals to become
a Carrier Ethernet Certified Professional (CECP), Accedian has announced
its 2013 MEF training schedule, it can be viewed here.
All training classes are held at Accedian's headquarters in Montreal,
Canada. To register for upcoming in-class training sessions, or to
