Tollgrade Chosen as Top 13 'Smart Grid Companies to Watch' For 2013
RESTON, Va. --(Business Wire)--
Tollgrade
Communications, Inc., a global leader in providing network assurance
solutions to the world's largest utilities and telecommunications
providers, announced that it has been named a winner in the 2013
'Smart Grid Companies to Watch' competition from Smart Grid News.
More than 12,000 votes were cast in the final round, with the top 13
companies identified by Smart Grid News as "the ones that SGN (News - Alert)
readers told us have the potential to be 2013 superstars."
"Being named a 'Smart Grid Company to Watch' is an honor. The
recognition comes at a time when we are projecting to more than double
our annual smart grid revenue in 2013, and rapidly extend our market
reach into Europe and South America," said Erik Christian, vice
president of Smart Grid for Tollgrade. "Our customers repeatedly cite
three major challeges that all utilities face when it comes to
modernizing their distribution grid: maximizing the life of high-value
assets, improving reliability and boosting grid visibility - all of
which are key applications provided by our industry-leading LightHouse
distribution grid monitoring platform."
Whether it's identifying and locating faults to reduce outage time,
providing real-time monitoring to balance load and protect the life of
substation transformers or optimizing grid efficiency, Tollgrade's
LightHouse solution is helping utilities solve the real-world
challenges that impact the reliability of the distribution grid.
Tollgrade currently has 10 customers at many of North America's largest
utilities.
Tollgrade brought its legacy of providing network assurance to the smart
grid by launching in 2009 its first solution for utilities, the
Tollgrade LightHouse platform. This next-generation distribution
monitoring solution provides real-time grid intelligence using data
gathered wirelessly from sensors
that sit on the medium voltage grid. Combined with predictive
analytics software, LightHouse monitoring allows utilities to
protect high-value assets, detect outages before customers call and, in
many cases, prevent future problems.
