BRIEF: ESPN may pick up video of Coronado, Franklin game featuring Mitchell Marcus' shot

Feb 14, 2013 (El Paso Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- ESPN may air the video of Coronado High School's Mitchell Marcus' heartwarming basketball shot on national television.

Coronado coach Peter Morales said he was contacted by ESPN this morning and is sending the video of the final minutes of Tuesday's basketball game when Marcus, a special needs student, made the last shot.

The moment was made possible when, in an act of sportsmanship, Franklin's Jon Montanez gave the ball to Marcus with 13 seconds left. Lauren Bagg, a Franklin student who recorded the moment with her phone, has also spoken with ESPN, she said via Facebook.

On Wednesday, Bagg's video was shared by several people on Facebook and was posted on elpasotimes.com.

As the news of Marcus' shot spread through El Paso, students at both Coronado and Franklin began using Twitter to get national attention. They launched #GetMitchOnSportscenter which quickly began trending in El Paso.
