Synapse Wireless Expands Executive Team

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) HUNTSVILLE, AL -- (Marketwire) -- 02/28/13 -- Synapse Wireless® announced today that M. Todd Holt has joined Synapse Wireless as President of the company. Mr. Holt will be responsible for directing the custom solutions and horizontal market businesses in Synapse's core market of cloud-enabled, machine-to-machine (M2M) communication solutions. Synapse will draw on his experience in corporate strategy, M&A, capital structure and IPOs to help direct the rapid growth planned for the company.

"Todd brings to Synapse over 15 years of effective business leadership in dynamic, high growth environments and has a successful track record building companies to significant scale," said Wade Patterson, CEO of Synapse Wireless. "He is an excellent match to help us leverage the competitive advantages of our SNAP wireless mesh network platform into a much wider range of M2M solutions and markets." Mr. Holt was most recently President of Knology Inc., a publicly-traded broadband service provider, where he spent the last 15 years of his career. He also served as Knology's Chief Financial Officer during this time. Mr. Holt played an instrumental role in growing Knology from startup to over $500 million in annualized revenue and approximately $200 million in EBITDA, as well as taking the company public in 2003. Knology was acquired by WOW! Internet, Cable & Phone in 2012 for $1.5 billion.

"Joining the Synapse team and leading the expansion of cloud services as a seamless interface to M2M networks is an exciting and important next step for the company," explains Todd Holt, President of Synapse Wireless. "M2M communications, also known as the Internet of Things, is poised for significant long-term growth and Synapse is at the very core of its development." Mr. Holt will lead Synapse's aggressive expansion into horizontal markets with component products and cloud solutions, as well as expand its custom solutions business to provide complete product and cloud solutions throughout the M2M marketplace.

Synapse also announced that Royce Ard has joined Synapse as Vice President of Marketing. Mr. Ard was most recently Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Knology, and brings over 25 years of experience in high tech industries, including industrial sensor technology, telecom, e-commerce and publishing.

As a solutions provider, Synapse continues to actively expand its product development and marketing staff to drive certain strategic initiatives that will be announced later this year. Synapse is a majority owned subsidiary of McWane Inc., which provides funding to accelerate and broaden Synapse's solutions through both technology development and acquisitions.

Synapse solutions are based on its rapidly expanding SNAP platform and custom solutions that drive innovation into many M2M markets. Synapse has a solid history of leadership in wireless mesh network technology. SNAP already supports the widest range of processor platforms in the M2M space, including Freescale, Panasonic, Atmel, Silicon Labs and ST Microelectronics. SNAP runs on cost-effective 8-bit microcontrollers and can scale up to the power of a 32-bit ARM 7 processor -- and all on the same network. SNAP supports full mesh routing using all available communication interfaces (e.g. IEEE 802.15.4, WiFi, TCP/IP, Ethernet, USB and more).
