Goober Networks, a Unified Communications (News - Alert) provider, released a new software development kit (SDK) for VoIP and video applications – the VIVO Engine. OEMs, service providers and application developers can make use of this new solution to access HQ VoIP and video capabilities on all existing desktop and mobile platforms.

Goober asserted that the SDK is available as Library (C++) or DLL for both Windows and Mac OS-X and for iOS as static C++ Library. A simplified Android (News - Alert) variant is already in development. It is available as a white-label turnkey solution to OEMs.

Some of the main features of the new VIVO Engine are: fully-integrated network, video, and voice engine; flexible high-level API for a simple integration; very high voice and video quality; voice and video optimization functions; SIP as signaling standard; network optimization functions for a clean and stable IP connection; broad- and narrowband codecs for VoIP; several video codec; and more.

Also contained in the SDK are all elements necessary for expanding applications by features like VoIP and video communication and includes SIP signaling software, which is the standard for real-time IP communications, as well as NAT/FW and video rendering.

ICQ acknowledged that it found the solution that Goober Networks (News - Alert) brings to the table to be the most suited to its voice and video needs in the new and improved ICQ 7.5, a solution that offers an improved audio and video chat service to help one stay in touch with friends. By leveraging the optimized IP communication offered by Goober through VIVO, ICQ can meet the growing demand for voice and video services and develop its own solutions to rival existing services in today’s market.

Officials with Goober stated that developers and OEMs now have an exceptional solution for deploying voice or video over IP with the best codecs. VIVO Engine utilizes network tools which optimize and complement IP communication and significantly simplify the development cycle, allowing Goober to efficiently provide a convenient, off-the-shelf product for today’s market. This latest introduction builds on Goober’s already-proven portfolio and will be followed by a series of additions to the company’s product family this year.
