Provider of carrier-class fraud prevention, detection and telecom analytics for businesses of any size, Humbug Telecom Labs announced that Askozia will bundle the Humbug fraud detection, prevention and analytics tools into their Asterisk (News - Alert)-based PBX solution. The Askozia PBX is a fully-loaded telephone system that can connect with virtually any telephony technology. It is configured through a highly intuitive Web Graphical User Interface. Askozia PBX (News - Alert) aspires to make the power of Asterisk accessible to the common user in a slimmed down, embedded format. Both software and appliance-based PBX's are provided by Askozia.

In a release, head of operations for Askozia, Benjamin-Nicola Lüken, said that “Hacking of telephone systems is a very real problem that costs small businesses billions annually and it was critical for us to protect our customers. Askozia is one of the only PBX manufacturers to provide this capability and you’ll likely see others follow our lead in the future.”

Humbug Analytics and Fraud Prevention is available by default on the Askozia PBX version 2.1 which was released this month. This release allows Askozia users to get comprehensive traffic reports, secure their PBX, and gain traffic alerting ability. Askozia is business-grade PBX that is used by small and medium sized organizations which do not normally have access to fraud prevention technology. Due to Humbug Labs and Askozia, these users will benefit from this protection.

Askozia will provide and promote Humbug to its consumers as a security device and as a sophisticated reporting interface. It will also promote Askozia as a Humbug-ready solution for organizations that seek an advanced and secure PBX system.

CEO of Humbug Telecom Labs, Yaniv Rofé, said that “Open source phone systems are particularly susceptible to voicemail hacking, hijacking and other forms of telecom fraud. Small businesses tend to think that they are immune to such behavior, but telecom hacking has now become a common occurrence, particularly with smaller businesses that that hackers and phreakers can easily target.”

Askozia provision of highly intuitive telephone system for businesses is accomplished by combining the well-liked software AskoziaPBX with typical PC hardware or numerous embedded platforms. AskoziaPBX is extremely easy to use, supports VoIP, ISDN, analog and GSM, is multilingual and is even less expensive than a single VoIP phone.
