The telecommunication landscape is awash with new buzz words almost every day, but as the haze around VoIP is clearing, millions are jumping on to the VoiP bandwagon. On Hold Company is no exception, for it has developed a solution to deliver on-hold advertising messages in a loop on VoIP telephone systems.
“There’s no doubt that today’s greatest telecommunications buzz word is ‘VOIP,’” Bryant Wilson, CEO of On Hold Company, said in a press release.
He added, “Every in-the-know business either has made or is considering the jump to VOIP for its telephony needs.”
The concept of onHold advertising is not new and the messages are generally played in a loop to increase the chances of listeners getting to hear more ads. However, ineffective delivery nullifies the efficacy of the ads and they don't serve their intended purpose.
Wilson stated that On Hold Company discovered a problem with its own on-hold message when the company installed a VOIP system. After every transfer 'callers heard messages starting right from the beginning or from the exact spot they left it when placed on hold'.
He made use of the fact that All Asterisk (News - Alert) based platforms had a module to play music on hold and most of the platforms accepted wav and mp3 files or mp3 streams as well. He then hooked up a Barix Instreamer 100 to one of the on-hold players and connected the Instreamer to the LAN.
Once this was done, a new music source was created in Elastix (News - Alert) and the address of the mp3 stream was input from the instreamer. Looping music on hold was obtained. Thus On Hold Company discovered the best and effective way to deliver ads.
The company stated that the problem-solving On Hold company applied to its own issue is an example of the kind of service it provides customers every day.
In related news, On Hold Company and VoiceScapes, Inc., joined forces to offer even greater audio media services to the health and fitness industry. VoiceScapes has focused its time and attention for more than a decade exclusively on helping gym and spa owners enhance their on-hold image.
