CounterPath (News - Alert) is set to offer a complete voice, messaging, presence and video offering for the most popular desktop and mobile operating systems.
The company intends to launch the next version of Bria iPhone (News - Alert) Edition this fall that will help service providers and Internet Telephony providers grow revenues by leveraging video as the new key service to customers.
This launch will enable users of CounterPath supported mobile devices to perform several tasks such as launch their Bria softphone application, check the availability and status of colleagues, friends and family members, send an instant message or SMS/text message and launch a voice call and video call.
All this can be done in a quick, intuitive and seamless manner from home, office or on the go.
"Video applications are the next battle ground for service providers. Video is a critical component of the services mix for operators as users have become more sophisticated in their use of voice, messaging and now video, and expectations for communicating on their terms are driving providers to increase the bandwidth of their networks,” said Todd Carothers, SVP of Marketing and Products at CounterPath. “Customers expect multiple ways of communicating—it's no longer about a single application. Significant opportunity exists to meet user requirements through allowing users to seamlessly communicate through the device and means they chose."
CounterPath will also integrate with BroadSoft's BroadWorks platform through the implementation of the most used features leveraging BroadSoft's (News - Alert) Xtended Services Interface (XSI).
This integration offers end-users key features and settings accessible from both the Bria desktop and mobile softphone applications.
"BroadSoft and CounterPath have many customers that rely on our joint solution," said David Bukovsky, vice president, Product, BroadSoft. "We are excited that CounterPath has implemented the XSI framework to support some of the most popular features used across the BroadWorks platform and we look forward to continuing our work together meeting and exceeding the expectations of our customers."
