ThinkGrid has gotten a major investment from Runa Capital, a Russian-based venture capital firm, the companies announced.
Runa said the amount of the investment is under $5 million, according to a company spokesman’s e-mail toTMCnet on Friday.
The investment will be used for the company’s sales and development teams and used to open more data centers globally, according to a ThinkGrid press release.
“ThinkGrid represents Runa’s eighth significant investment since the fund’s launch last year, and demonstrates our commitment to supporting technology talent internationally,” Andre Bliznyuk, a partner at Runa Capital, said in the press release. “Its unique, channel-focused model and powerful platform for cloud computing services reflects the type of innovative thinking we’re keen to champion. We are extremely excited by the firm’s existing success and long-term prospects.”
ThinkGrid is a platform vendor allowing for IT services from the cloud, the company explains.
“With support from Runa Capital, we are now in a position to continue to build upon our success and further drive adoption of the cloud for IT providers around the world,” Rob Lovell, CEO at ThinkGrid, said in the press release.
“There are many large vendors threatening mainstream adoption of the cloud by cutting out traditional channel partners and going directly to customers with restrictive and often substandard cloud offerings,” he added. “The partner community has historically played a critical role in helping customers with new technology decisions. This is why ThinkGrid has become both successful and unique in the market place by delivering a cloud platform with a full portfolio of services to the channel.”
ThinkGrid provides Exchange, Hosted Virtual Desktop, Software-as-a-Service, VoIP and Virtual Server infrastructure. The company also lets it partners rebrand ThinkGrid’s products and cloud services. Recently, ThinkGrid introduced a Private Cloud solution.
ThinkGrid – a UK-based company – started operations in 2008. ThinkGrid has nine data centers and over 10,000 users accessing services. The company also has over 150 partners.
