VoIP Diagnostics Added to ZCorum's TechVizion Mobile App

By SIP Trunking Report Contributor

A Voice Tab has been added to ZCorum’s TechVizion app. Current and historical cable modem diagnostics are provided to technicians in the field with the mobile app, TechVizion. Additional diagnostics and call quality scores have been added with the new Voice Tab. Troubleshooting of voice subscribers who are using an Embedded Multimedia Terminal Adapter or EMTA can be now possible for providers. An announcement in this regard has been made by ZCorum at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo.

Scott Helms, Vice President of Technology at ZCorum noted that information like the line status, battery state and charge can be displayed for the technician by simply touching the voice tab in the app. Call quality metrics for the last ten calls, including MOS scores and any delayed, lost or discarded packets are also displayed. A customer however needs to have a voice service with the provider.

Helms said, “Our customers already love that they can query any device from any location, right on their smartphone or tablet, and immediately view current and historical RF stats. Now, with one tap they can also view VoIP diagnostics that are critical in troubleshooting voice calls when in the field.”

According to Helms, Android phones and tablets are compatible with TechVizion. The iPhone and iPad are also compatible with TechVizion.

Traditionally, the TechVizion mobile client only operates in conjunction with the ZCorum’s Web-based diagnostics software. Providers who have made significant investments in their own Operational Support Systems or OSS but need a mobile solution for cable modem diagnostics can now avail TechVizion. According to an announcement in this regard, the company will be working with MSOs to make TechVizion available to these providers.

TruVizion is the company’s popular web-based version of the software. TechVizion also works in conjunction with TruVizion. Both TruVizion and TechVizion will be demonstrated by Helms and other ZCorum staff at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo ’11 in Atlanta. They will be at booth #1801.

Broadband Internet and communication solutions are provided by ZCorum to telcos, cable companies, utilities, and municipalities. These organizations are aided by ZCorum in all facets of broadband implementation, integration, engineering and consulting, network monitoring and diagnostics.
