- Alert) Canada, a communications carrier with 600,000 customers across its suite of services, announced its Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services are available in an additional 240 exchanges across Canada.
The expansion allows more Canadian businesses and consumers to access communications services at an affordable price. The expansion is part of the Primus' continued investment plans.
Wholesale customers in these new exchanges will also be able to access a wide range of cost effective services connecting to Primus' national and international footprint, company officials said.
The expansion is designed to address growing customer needs for advanced technology, lower costs, and access to the same services as the major urban hubs.
"Over the last three years, tens of thousands of businesses and consumers have selected Primus VoIP services which are feature-rich, and designed to drive cost savings and productivity improvements," said AJ Byers, executive vice president, Primus Business Services, in a statement.
"With today's expansion of our footprint by 240 exchanges, approximately four million more Canadians have expanded choice in services so they too can realize greater value for their money," Byers added.
More than 50 percent of Primus business customers are selecting IP-based technology for their telephony services.
Primus Home Phone (News - Alert) customers can save up to $60 per month compared to current offerings by other phone companies, with plans starting at $9.99 per month.
Primus business customers can save more than 40 percent on their monthly communication bills versus existing traditional telephone services. Primus provides choice with hosted phone systems, SIP Trunking services and other Voice over IP solutions for $7.95 per month.

- Alert) (SIP) Trunking service for small business VoIP customers in Canada.
The cloud-based small business VoIP service, available through Primus Canada Business Services, provides SMBs with a cost-effective and flexible communications service.
