Sarasota, Florida-based provider of business-focused Internet telephone systems and service Star2Star Communications (News - Alert) recently reached a rare landmark by achieving 100 percent uptime for all of 2011. Star2Star reportedly leveraged its patent-pending Constellation call-routing technology to achieve this landmark.
This achievement becomes even more important as a number of competitors suffered significant and often lengthy outages throughout the year. With businesses worldwide, rapidly moving toward IP communications, reliability becomes one of the most vital issues for business customers and by being able to deliver 100 percent uptime, Star2Star certainly reaffirmed its position as being ‘The World’s Most Reliable Internet Communications Solution’.
“Our perfect year didn’t happen by accident. We moved and upgraded our main data center and we deployed our Constellation call-routing architecture at seven locations across the US. We made infrastructure a priority, even though it meant slowing development work on other systems,” Kristian Kielhofner, Star2Star’s chief technology officer commented in a statement.
Star2Star’s Constellation call-routing technology sends calls over the best possible path, while many other technologies chose just the shortest path to send calls. Constellation can detect and avoid regional Internet congestion points, so calls connect quickly, with the best possible quality, and the least possible delay. If any Constellation node is knocked off line, others pick up the calls automatically; the network heals automatically, the company officials explained in a press release.
In addition to the reliability achievement, Star2Star delivered significant new products and features and won several important industry awards in 2011. The company was also named to both the Inc. 500 and Forbes Most Promising Companies lists.
Last month Star2Star Communications announced that the company received the 2011 Unified Communications (News - Alert) Excellence Award. The award honors products that have unique features that have made significant contributions in advancing technology in unified communications.
