Acrobits Unveils Video VoIP-SIP iPhone Application Featuring SmoothFlow Video Technology

By SIP Trunking Report Contributor

Recently, a press release quoted that Acrobits - a mobile software development company with a focus on Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Clients for mobile devices – has challenged both Skype as well as Facetime with the release of SmoothFlow, a new video VoIP-SIP iPhone application for Apple’s iPhone.

Since the roll-out of Acrobits Softphone on the iTunes App Store in 2009, Acrobits has gained lot of popularity as a SIP Client on the App Store. With a focus on VoIP Clients for mobile platforms, Acrobits has already rolled-out Groundwire – a mobile VoIP Client, a Softphone for the Android Market, and many SIP Solutions for VoIP providers.

According to Jiri Kral, CTO/CEO for Acrobits, the company’s SmoothFlow is a person-to-person video call technology. It can remove the ‘choppy effect’ of video calls over smart phones and to enable smoothing out the movements during a call.

Kral added, “Unlike dedicated video conferencing solutions that require expensive hardware investments, this solution operates by leveraging the tools within the smart phone…Unlike Facetime and Skype, this application is truly one of a kind as it operates across both leading smart mobile platforms and on any NGN telecommunications network. We will continue to support SIP, the standard for Next Generation Networks across the world.”

The Android version of the new VoIP-SIP application will launch during the second quarter of 2012.

According to Acrobits, the company’s Voice and Video applications are available in two versions, namely the SIP Phone and the Groundwire.

The SIP Phone is for the consumer market. It is designed for those with basic VoIP needs. The Groundwire is a fully featured business phone application that works with both closed and open source office IP-PBX platforms such as Cisco, Avaya and Asterisk.

Apart from featuring HD Sound, Phone book integration and Avatar Dialing, the Groundwire also features attended transfer, multi line or conference calling, and more.

Nadahl Shocair, a telecommunications industry expert and executive advisor to Acrobits, said in a statement, “Our unique and ubiquitous solutions spell the end for both the home cordless phone and business desk telephone categories as carriers and PBX vendors can now simply provide subscribers with a highly featured OEM Mobile Application that integrates and delivers into their subscribers’ hands the full suite of services such as Voice, Video, IVR and Unified Communications in a neat branded low cost high quality application developed by Acrobits.”
