The new Optimum (News - Alert) Lightpath Government Services Suite will effectively bring down telecommunications costs and serve the requirements of local government bodies. Optimum Lightpath, which announced the availability of its latest offering, said that the new service suite will also help in improving inter-department collaborations and help in delivering services to residents. Optimum Lightpath’s (News - Alert) extensive suite of services will be delivered over the company’s fiber network and will deliver capabilities such as flat-rate billing for cost control and enhanced customer service.

In a release, Julia McGrath, senior vice president of Marketing and Business Development said that, “Local governments have unique telecommunications needs given the important role they play in serving their residents and businesses. The Optimum Lightpath Government Services Suite was built with this fundamental understanding and provides the flexible, cost-effective, and powerful services that help our customers in the government sector advance.”

Local governments at the county, city, and town and municipality level often face challenges over the deployment of telework programs, or in the use of collaboration services meant to optimize judicial, human services, and law enforcement departments or for inviting new companies and jobs among other such tasks. The Optimum Lightpath Government Service Suite increases the level of preparedness among the various government departments as it delivers an extensive range of voice and data products.

The Optimum Lightpath Government Services Suite has been designed with products that include the E-Line solution delivering Layer 2 dedicated point-to-point data service capable of supporting both single and multiple applications that don’t use a specific amount of bandwidth. The V-Line Layer 2 point-to-point data service is based on a single Ethernet Virtual Connection (EVC) which enables transmission of data between locations.

Eric Wilsusen, police captain and director of Communications for Jefferson Township, said that, “Police departments and municipalities are becoming extremely tech reliant, so when something goes down, there's a panic. Jefferson Township needed high performance, good value and solid customer support to serve residents and support day to day operations. We found all of this and more in Optimum Lightpath.”
