GL Communications (News - Alert) has announced the launch of its product PPP and ML-PPP Packet Data Analyzer (PDA) software. For VoIP calls (SIP / H323 / Megaco / MGCP / T.38 Fax) the new software segregates, captures, and collects statistics.

The software provides graphical presentation of analysis, including ladder diagrams of protocols and monitors QoS (quality of service) on voice and video calls. Apart from offering long-term traffic statistics gathering, its real-time nature makes it an outstanding tool for live monitoring of VoIP traffic, the company stated in a press release.

Vijay Kulkarni CEO of GL said, “Packet Data Analyzer (PDA) is a real-time IP and VoIP analysis tool in MLPPP Analyzer that non-intrusively captures and monitors live IP, VoIP, and IP based Video traffic. Detailed call statistics such as packet loss, gap, jitter, delay, RTP performance statistics, R-factor & MOS scores, and unparalleled voice band statistics can be monitored simultaneously. Sophisticated filters permit zooming and recording of specific calls of interest.”

User can perform power, frequency, spectral, tone and digit analysis, as well as video analysis with ease and precision. They can also listen and record audio and video data of a session VoIP calls in real-time. Users can get an exact picture of QOS and the technical adherence of the system under test, the company has stated.

Recently, the company announced the availability of a protocol analyzer for the SS7 standard. The software will allow telecommunications companies using the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) to capture traffic on their SS7 networks and analyze them for many reasons, including troubleshooting. Many interfaces are supported through the analyzer such as MSC (News - Alert), VLR, EIR, AuC, and gsmSCF. The product is capable of decoding traffic intended for GSM/GPRS, which is the most popular mobile wireless standard worldwide.
