join.me, the popular online screen sharing and meeting service from LogMeIn (News - Alert), has just added VoIP capability to make collaboration easy no matter what the caller’s location. By using the free VoIP service from a PC, Mac, iPad or iPhone (News - Alert), customers can collaborate with up to 250 other people at a time.
“VoIP has been one of the most requested features from join.me users looking for a better way to share. With this release we've added an audio component that we believe is as powerful and easy to use as join.me itself – adding value without the complexity,” said Lou Orfanos, director of Collaboration Products for LogMeIn, in a company press release. “Whether it's a sales pitch or a brainstorm, we believe sharing and collaborating should be frictionless and easy so people can focus on the task at hand, not the logistics of a meeting.”
Users can use join.me VoIP via web browser or desktop app. The iOS join.me app also allows use of VoIP, and the join.me app in the Android (News - Alert) Market will add VoIP soon. VoIP service is free with join.me as well as with join.me pro, the screen sharing service’s professional subscription version.
The free version of the software provides unlimited Internet calling, multi-monitor, chat functionality and file sending functionality. The pro version of the software adds multiple features including a personal link and background, a professional desktop app, meeting scheduler and meeting lock, and international conference lines.
“The new join.me audio options add a new level of hands-free collaboration for our staff and customers alike, especially when collaborating with teams across the US, UK and Australia,” said Scott Conway, managing director at Brafton, Inc., a news and content marketing agency that uses join.me pro. “We love the fact that we can have attendees call into a single bridge via VoIP or telephone line and more easily manage participation in larger conversations. Best of all, I can control most of the conference right from the join.me app.”
