GENBAND (News - Alert) has announced plans to expand into the market of enterprise communications to provide organizations with mobile solutions for advanced Unified Communications (News - Alert) (UC) and SIP Trunking. The company already has approximately 250 million IP communications ports across the globe, and hopes to deliver large-scale enterprise networks to an IP-based UC infrastructure.
In a nutshell, GENBAND’s UC solutions provide a means of keeping up on the business end of things with seamless integration of communications and productivity software between desktop and mobile devices alike.
Key features include VoIP, video chat, federated or secure instant messaging and desktop sharing – everything one would need to “take the office” with them on the go.
The A2 Communications Application Server, S3 Intelligent Session Border Controller, G6 Universal Gateway (News - Alert), C20 Converged Softswitch and GENBAND A2 Mobile Office power this new enterprise network. With Mobile Office, Enterprise workers can use their mobile gadgets to connect with many of the same applications just as they would on their desktop.
With the growing power and popularity of devices like smartphones and tablets, the workforce is becoming more distributed. As a cross-platform solution, GENBAND’s new cloud productivity suite is available on virtually any modern mobile device – allowing for increased productivity no matter where the user may be.
“With this move, GENBAND is bringing carrier-grade IP solutions to the enterprise, offering large organizations an unparalleled, end-to-end solution for secure, highly scalable multimedia and communications solutions,” said Mehmet Balos (News - Alert), Chief Marketing Officer at GENBAND.
GENBAND’s Secure SIP Trunking solution enables enterprises to create a private UC cloud over existing networks, in turn delivering features such as Virtual PBX (News - Alert), Federation, SIP PBX Trunking and Voice VPN services. Savings of up to 40 percent or more are expected through this method of direct IP connection to carrier service providers.
Brian Riggs, Research Director at Enterprise Software, expects some friction among competitors with GENBAND’s venture into enterprise communications. “This move is likely to shake up the market with compelling alternatives for the large enterprise, from a developer whose company and products are well-established in the carrier infrastructure market,” he said.
Added support and mobility for the enterprise workforce will greatly increase productivity among professionals in the field, allowing for quick, consistent collaboration between employees.
