Hong Kong Broadband Network, the fastest growing broadband service provider in Hong Kong, has recently chosen the GENBAND (News - Alert) GENiUS all-IP platform to enable the transformation and modernization of HKBN's communications network.
By migrating TDM and first generation VoIP switches, as well as first generation SIP servers to the GENiUS-powered IP solution, GENBAND will help HKBN offer advanced business and residential multimedia communications capabilities across the region.
In a press release, Lo Sui Lun, chief technology officer, HKBN, said, "GENBAND's unmatched network migration expertise and proven GENiUS solution allow us to increase revenue generation opportunities and subscriber bases across both residential and business customers while achieving a 95 percent savings in equipment floor space and power consumption. Through interconnections enabled at the IP level by GENBAND's Intelligent S3 SBC, we also enhance our support for the International Direct Dialing market."
With the help of the GENiUS platform, GENBAND is able to seamlessly integrate a host of HKBN's services in various ways, such as delivering advanced unified communications and multimedia capabilities with GENBAND Mobile Life and Mobile Office software solutions, along with geo-redundant call control, all from the same platform.
GENBAND incorporates the A2 Communications Application Server, S3 Session Border Controller and the C20 Converged Softswitch software on the all-IP GENiUS platform. It offers HKBN, with an advanced, highly scalable solution that delivers new revenue enablers and reduces the total cost of ownership.
"We are very pleased to expand our longstanding partnership with HKBN and support their network consolidation and migration efforts with our advanced GENiUS IP platform and software applications," said Mark Pugerude (News - Alert), president of Global Sales and Marketing at GENBAND.
In related news, GENBAND has completed one of the most intensive performance and security validation tests performed against its S3 Session Border Controller by Miercom, an independent lab testing facility specializing in networking and communications product testing.
