Today Comcast (News - Alert), a provider of cable services and high speed Internet, has announced the launch of a new product. The product, which is aimed at servicing other businesses, has been dubbed Comcast Business VoiceEdge. Comcast Business VoiceEdge is being billed at a 'cloud-based voice and unified communications solution' by the company. For those of you who need some translation, that means that the company is offering HD calling, with an impressive array of features for business users.
Some of the features the service will offer include: the ability to push calls to wherever a user is, a voicemail to e-mail service, a toolbar for Microsoft (News - Alert) Outlook, Internet Explorer, and Mozilla Firefox Web browsers to bring functionality to computers, automatic backup phone number redirection and share call handling between multiple sites.
Bill Stemper, the president of Comcast Business Services, had the following to say about the new launch in the release, "What sets Comcast apart from other players in this space is that we're the only provider to combine a cloud-based voice service with vast network reach, a well-known brand and a strong focus on providing great products with high quality and consistency. Businesses, especially those with a distributed workforce, need a reliable and consistent voice solution that allows their 'on-the-go' employees to stay connected anytime and anywhere. Together with our Ethernet and alongside our PRI services we are now delivering an array of solutions for all types of mid-sized organizations."
For now the product is only available in the state of Michigan, but the company hopes to be able to offer it to companies all over the U.S. by the end of this year.
