The Uptime Institute, an organization that provides independent thought leadership, certification, education and professional services for the global Data Center industry in over 50 countries, has recently awarded Tier III Certification to Primus Business Services, a company based in Canada.
Tier III certification is given to Canadian businesses and organizations after validating the design, construction, operating procedures and the related controls to not only comply with the highest possible standards, but also eliminate the risk of a service disruption through 100 percent uptime capabilities.
"The fundamental concept of Tier III is Concurrent Maintainability, and the benefit is that the data center will never be shut down to maintain or replace the heating and cooling equipment. Since the need for planned facility shutdowns is eliminated, Primus' new Data Center will offer best-in-class data centre services in Canada," said Pitt Turner, chief executive officer, Uptime Institute.
Primus Business Services specializes in advanced communication solutions and data center technology, providing a comprehensive portfolio of infrastructure and managed solutions that deliver reliability, security and compliance to meet the needs of Canadian Businesses.
AJ Byers, executive vice president of Primus Business Services said that this is truly a significant achievement in data center design, construction and operations, and a significant milestone in the Canadian data center industry.
"With Tier III certification supplemented by PCI and SSAE industry auditing standards, the new GTA (News - Alert) Data Center will have the highest degree of independent validation in the country, giving customers unprecedented assurances of service reliability," Byers added.
Byers further said that they are extremely pleased to be working with The Uptime Institute to open Canada's only certified Tier III design and construction facility.
