Edgewater Networks and Metaswitch Announce New Solution for Enterprise VoIP Providers

With more and more businesses looking to improve their overall state of being by replacing old landlines with a VoIP solution – whether to save money, gain access to improved features or both – the demand has increased not only for VoIP, but also for services related to VoIP installation and usage.

Edgewater Networks (News - Alert) and Metaswitch got together and announced today a new solution geared toward the enterprise VoIP provider market.

The new solution takes Metaswitch's MetaView solution and couples it with Edgewater's VoIP installation and monitoring solution, creating a whole new solution that allows providers an easy way to support enterprise operations where different devices from different manufacturers are used on the same network.

The combination of products related to this solution, MetaView and EdgeView provide plenty of benefits for not only the providers, but also for end users.

Those going with the coalition product get access to a wide array of benefits and features, like easy plug-and-play installation of IP phones, including those from all sorts of vendors like Cisco (News - Alert) and Polycom. This not only improves the out-of-box experience at the user level, but it also makes it much easier to add new phones as they're needed.

And on a more IT level, it lends access to easier product integration via an "authenticated API," as well as access to improved diagnostic capabilities and statistics on call quality – right on the premises.

The Edgewater / Metaswitch solutions basically look to not only make it easier to install a wide-scale VoIP network of the kind you'd find at the enterprise level, but also easier to manage that network as well. Better diagnostic and monitoring tools, as well as the sheer ease of bringing in new phones, adds up to make an impressive overall experience that is likely to handle both current and future needs.

Being able to "future proof" an experience is a valuable form of insurance that few people seem interested in, but for those who understand its full value, it's almost unthinkable not to have that protection.

Thus, it's a safe bet that Edgewater and Metaswitch's combined solution set will bring plenty of value along for those enterprises looking to bring in a VoIP solution, or just step up their current version to make it more stable and ready for what tomorrow may bring.
