Sonetel, a Swedish company, is touted as the only provider of a free, global PBX (News - Alert) service for small and medium-sized businesses. Entrepreneurs worldwide will instantly get a professional, free communications solution, and open “virtual offices” around the world at a very low cost.
In keeping with its vision of a borderless world, the company announced a bonus for its Premium customers and stated that they could make free business calls to mobiles and landlines to 43 countries worldwide.
“We want to flatten the world for the benefit of global entrepreneurs” said Henrik Thomé, CEO and founder of Sonetel. “A world with fewer borders, where ideas and business cooperation can flow freely, is a more peaceful world. We want to make a small contribution to that vision.”
More than 75,000 companies from over 200 countries have signed up to get this easy-to-use global telephone infrastructure for their business.
Most of Sonetel customers are in Asia, Africa and South America, and millions of entrepreneurs around the world have access to an Internet connection and a mobile phone, but work on limited budgets.
This is the audience Thomé wants to empower.
Hence, Sonetel enables entrepreneurs to open "virtual offices" anywhere and get closer to customers. This is done by getting a local phone number in any country of choice for a few dollars per month. Even incoming calls will be charged at the cost of a local call.
It also offers other services like fax-to-e-mail and voice responses at a very low cost.
Sonetel announced that TMC (News - Alert), a global, integrated media company, has named the Sonetel Business phone system a recipient of the 2011 Communications Solutions Product of the Year Award.
